Horrific crime

Friends of our family & awesome Christians - Riaan & Tillie Pieters were brutally attacked on 1 September 2009 - Tuesday Night at 10:00pm in their home town Rustenburg after they went out to dinner alone. 4 armed men took them to a remote location then they beat up Riaan, Smashing in his face. 3 specialists are on standby to reconstruct his face the minute the swelling goes down. His lovely wife Tillie was repeatedly raped and all her finger tips were bitten off during the rapes. They broke her arm and then tried to kill her by hitting a hole in the back of her head. Even though the attack was racially motivated (as Riaan could hear them swearing and making racial slurs), nothing was stolen and Riaan was able to crawl to his bakkie and take them to the hospital.

Both are in ICU, Riaan is awake and continues to thank God that he is alive and has already forgiven his attackers, but Tillie has not yet regained consciousness. They have two small children who were at home but now need all our prayers.

Please join us in Prayer for healing & strength, Riaan’s mother is not taking this very well so extra prayers for their families.

Ja, I am struggling with understanding this too. It is one thing forgiving someone for what has been done to oneself, but what about what they did to his wife? He must be an extremely forgiving man.

Forgive me for thinking this, but should his wife pull through this - the ordeal that she has been through will affect her for the rest of her life. (I feel terrible for saying that, but I know that I couldn't live with the constant reminders of that horrific an experience - I wouldn't be strong enough...). xxx

Senseless and brutal.

Yesterday I was walking through our local park and came upon a group of boys fighting with a young lad. They hit him so hard he fell onto the ground banging his head. Not content with knocking him out, two lads then put the boot in - whilst laughing. The unconscience boy then went into an epilectic fit. I felt so useless as all I could do was phone the police and request an ambulance. The young boy was only 16. I left my name and no. as a witness and have head nothing from the Police.

Attacks like these will have a lasting and damaging effect on people for the rest of their lives.
