Default the amazing strength in people... Operation Bobbi Bear

My other half's Mom is close friends and i guess you can say it's my other half Aunt (as we all have one or more that aren't exactly family but they might as well be) founded a charity in Durbs called Bobbi Bear and until last night i couldn't really get my head around what they do. So i thought i'd share this and maybe shed more light and awareness.

for any of those of you that know me i don't do serious, and if it wasn't for the fact that my other half has been involved, and for the fact we had the opertunity to go and watch the movie

ultimatley Bobbi Bear was founded to deal with abused childern in Durbs because no one else cared enough, they still go through the same trial and tribulations today, no one wants to belive that a child has been raped or abused, the cops aren't interested, Social Services are useless abused childred get returned straight back to the same people that abused them in the first place. Kids are usually to scared to speak out as african tradition states that you have to respect your elders

the movie is called Rough Aunties http://roughaunties.com

    here is the film synopsis

"Fearless, feisty and resolute, the 'Rough Aunties' are a remarkable group of women unwavering in their stand to protect and care for the abused, neglected and forgotten children of Durban, South Africa. This newest documentary by internationally acclaimed director Kim Longinotto (Sisters in Law, Divorce Iranian Style) follows the outspoken, multiracial cadre of Thuli, Mildred, Sdudla, Eureka and Jackie, as they wage a daily battle against systemic apathy, corruption and greed to help the most vulnerable and disenfranchised of their communities. Neither politics, nor social or racial divisions stand a chance against the united force of the women. Once again Longinotto has managed to bring us an intimate portrait of change from Africa, this time from the new post-apartheid South Africa, a nation being transformed with hope and energy into a new democracy."

As per any charity, they mainly rely on funding which Eurika who is part of Bobbi Bear is currently travelling with the movie to try and raise awareness was saying their biggest problem is people who have seen the movie figure they must have been doing alright now and must be getting funding from somewhere or royalties or something, and sadly it has had the opposite effect.

If anyone wants to watch the movie, they've been allowed to make copies and distribute it i can happily post you a copy. but i warn you grab a great big box of tissues, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
