Think the trick here in the Uk is to kid the plants. Create artificial warm environments inside, outside, etc... they'll all grow. I only have a courtyard garden but it can be done, all year round, got to be patient in the Winter though, the plants re-build their strength in that time...

Can I be a plant in your garden ? It really looks so inviting.
I have seen coal being used as mulching for plants that require heat . Apparently it retains heat well and is good for plants that need a warmer 'climate' .

If the plants don't grow you can always set fire to the ground and have a braai eksay
I'll do almost anything for a rep

For all you home sick Africans out there - I have just landed my self a new client, a bulb grower and this is what he sells:

    http://www.bulbs.co.uk/1/products.asp?deptID=1832

He says keep them warm, plant them Jan and Feb, and rest the tubers in winter (???)
God is busy - can I help?

What really makes me homesick is buganvillas . Found it once here in the UK attempted to grow it and was not successful . I thinkk I will try and grow it in doors in a windowsell , the next time I see one

    Ah...

But the grasp of stringing sentences in the English language has escaped you, no?

Its amazing, the people that have left the big yards with lots of soil to plant veggies etc and only have tiny places now really miss that and have to make do with what they have, and actually make a success with it, all the plants etc. As evidenced with the blooming plants pictured in the posts above. Then you get people like me that still live here with the big yards etc and dont really worry about the garden. Weird. Supose if I did not have it I would miss it like crazy.
